Amref International University (AMIU) marked a significant milestone with its 6th Graduation Ceremony and the inauguration of its state-of-the-art Northlands Campus in Ruiru. The event, presided over by Former President Uhuru Kenyatta who was represented by former first lady Her excellency Margret Kenyatta saw the conferment of degrees, diplomas, and certificates to over 400 graduates in various health-related disciplines.

In a show of commitment to advancing health education, Former President Kenyatta awarded 10 fully funded scholarships to deserving students pursuing careers in health sciences. The scholarships aim to support the development of a future-ready health workforce equipped to deliver sustainable, community-centered solutions across Africa.

The Northlands Campus, a flagship investment in health sciences education, features cutting-edge learning spaces, modern laboratories, and a world-class library. The campus is expected to increase student capacity from 2,000 to 10,000 students, meeting the growing demand for health workforce training that reflects both local and international needs.

AMIU's commitment to building a future-ready health workforce is underscored by its focus on community-based education, ensuring that learning is embedded in real-life practice and local health contexts. The university's emphasis on localizing innovations to strengthen primary health care in Africa is timely and crucial in addressing the continent's health challenges.

As AMIU continues to drive progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education), its impact on the health sector in Africa is set to be felt for generations to come.
