The Government of Kenya, through the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, has released a substantial KSh. 4.6 billion to support vulnerable members of society under the Inua Jamii Programme. This disbursement will benefit 1,151,917 older persons and individuals living with severe disabilities, covering stipends for both the June and July 2025 payment cycles.

According to an official statement issued by the State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs, each eligible beneficiary will receive KSh. 4,000 — amounting to KSh. 2,000 per month for the two-month period. Payments began today.

The disbursement, totaling KSh. 4,607,668,000, follows a brief delay in the June cycle due to a comprehensive data cleanup exercise. The State Department has apologized for any inconvenience caused and assured beneficiaries of the government's commitment to timely and efficient service delivery.

The Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Programme is part of the government’s broader social protection strategy aimed at reducing poverty and promoting the well-being of the country’s most vulnerable populations. The programme specifically targets senior citizens aged 70 and above, orphans and vulnerable children, and individuals with severe disabilities.

In addition to financial support, the Ministry is also urging all Inua Jamii beneficiaries to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA) to gain access to affordable and quality healthcare services, in line with the government's commitment to universal health coverage.

This latest funding injection highlights the government's continued efforts to cushion disadvantaged Kenyans from economic hardship, particularly during these challenging times.
