Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has signed cooperation agreements with Nestle Kenya Ltd and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to promote sustainable energy development in Kenya.
The partnerships were announced during a signing ceremony at KenGen's headquarters, where Managing Director and CEO Eng. Peter Njenga highlighted the significance of collaboration in driving Kenya's transition to a green economy.
"We are proud to partner with Nestle Kenya and GGGI to accelerate Africa's transition to clean energy, enhance investment opportunities, and strengthen regional and global collaboration," Eng. Njenga said.
The partnerships will support the second edition of the KenGen Sustainable Energy Conference, scheduled for September 17-19, 2025, at the Olkaria Geothermal Spa in Naivasha. The conference will bring together industry leaders, governments, financiers, and development partners to deliberate on the theme "Renewable Energy for Sustainable Development."
Nestle Kenya will serve as the Official Refreshment Partner, promoting responsible consumption and sustainability, while GGGI will be the Official Knowledge Partner, contributing thought leadership and technical expertise to enrich the dialogue.
"We are committed to sustainability, responsible sourcing, and healthier living, which resonates with the Conference's mission of shaping a greener, more resilient future," said Khaled Ramadan, Managing Director of Nestle Kenya.
GGGI's involvement will bring global best practices, financing solutions, and climate-smart policies to the conference, transforming it into a launchpad for commitments, investments, and long-term collaborations.
The partnerships demonstrate the power of collaboration in driving real progress towards a sustainable future. "Together, we are proving that sustainability is everyone's business," Eng. Njenga emphasized.
The KenGen Sustainable Energy Conference promises to be a landmark event, showcasing Kenya's commitment to green growth and sustainable development. With Nestle Kenya and GGGI on board, the conference is set to deliver impactful discussions and knowledge exchange experiences that will shape the future of sustainable energy in Africa and beyond.
