Watu, a leading asset financing company in Africa, hosted its inaugural Creator Engagement Day at its Nairobi headquarters, bringing together over 50 Kenyan content creators, filmmakers, and social media influencers. The event marked a new chapter in Watu's community engagement strategy, focusing on narrative-driven impact stories that highlight the real lives of customers whose livelihoods have been transformed through access to affordable financing.

According to Erick Massawe, Country Manager of Watu Kenya, he stated.

"With BNPL, we're redefining ownership. You don’t just borrow—you own, and you use that asset to build your future." This approach has enabled Watu to empower countless entrepreneurs, providing them with the means to build their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

The event featured a vision and storytelling workshop, where Watu's marketing and product teams guided creators on narrative development, focusing on authenticity and respect when engaging with customers. Participants also visited local Watu branches to film and photograph real clients, capturing moments that reflect the impact of Watu's financing solutions.

Massawe emphasized that Watu's goal isn't just to sell loans but to empower entrepreneurs, providing them with the means to build their future.

"Walk in with a dream. Walk out with a business. That's what BNPL and asset financing do—they turn aspirations into ownership."

Massawe also highlighted Watu's commitment to providing wrap-around services, including insurance, repairs, and log-book processing, ensuring that customers stay on the road, not stuck with red tape.

"We don't just finance assets; we back them with services," he said.

The Creator Engagement Day reinforces Watu's leadership in Africa's asset financing space by humanizing its mission through compelling, locally rooted stories. As Massawe noted,

"Our goal isn't to sell loans—it’s to empower entrepreneurs. That boda-boda rider, that tuk-tuk operator—they need a shot at dignity, at self-reliance. That’s what drives Watu."

By sharing the stories of its customers and the impact of its financing solutions, Watu aims to inspire and empower more entrepreneurs to take control of their livelihoods and build a brighter future.
