Kenya today opened the Africa MICE Summit & Awards 2025 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), bringing together a powerhouse gathering of industry leaders, policymakers, investors, and innovators from across Africa and beyond.

With the theme “Catalysing Trade and Investment in Africa through MICE,” the summit serves as a pivotal platform to chart the future of the continent’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry — especially within the broader context of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Delegations from over 15 countries, including Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa, Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the United Arab Emirates, France, and Russia, are converging on Nairobi to explore new partnerships and unlock MICE-driven economic opportunities.

Convenor of the Africa MICE Summit and CEO of Zuri Events, Kezy Mukiri, captured the ambition of the event, stating: “Africa is at a turning point. The AfCFTA has opened a continental market of 1.4 billion people, and MICE is the platform that will unlock cross-border trade, investments, and innovation.”

Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Hon. Rebecca Miano officially launched the summit, affirming Kenya’s commitment to strengthening its position as a premier MICE destination on the continent.

Over the next three days, the programme will feature an Investors Forum on financial de-risking and infrastructure funding, a Future Leaders Forum dedicated to youth innovation in the MICE sector, and a series of panels covering sustainability, digital transformation, and human capital development. An exhibition showcasing green technologies, hospitality solutions, and destination branding has also been lined up, alongside the grand Africa MICE Awards Gala to celebrate outstanding contributions in the industry.

As global business events undergo transformation amid shifting trade and travel dynamics, Kenya is positioning itself as a leading hub for MICE. With strong government backing and regional collaboration, the summit is expected to boost intra-African trade, attract investment, and accelerate tourism growth across the continent.
