Global air-conditioning giant Daikin Industries has taken a bold step to cement its footprint in Africa with the official opening of a new office in Nairobi. The facility, situated on the 8th floor of One Africa Place, marks a strategic milestone for Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt. Ltd. (DAIPL), a subsidiary of Daikin Industries Ltd., Japan, and reflects the company’s long-term commitment to the continent’s rapidly growing HVAC market.
The new Nairobi office is more than a regional hub. It houses a state-of-the-art showroom where customers, partners, and industry stakeholders can experience Daikin’s product strength firsthand, including its portfolio of cutting-edge, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly air-conditioning solutions. The facility will also serve as a central platform for marketing, promotional activities, and dealer support, enabling Daikin to scale its operations across East Africa and beyond.
At the inauguration, Mr. KJ Jawa, Chairman and Managing Director of Daikin India and Board Member of Daikin Industries Ltd., underscored Africa’s potential as a growth frontier for the company.
“Africa is the next horizon for expansion. The launch of our Nairobi office is a key step towards achieving our ambition of capturing a significant market share here,” said Mr. Jawa.
He emphasized Daikin’s intent to combine technology with service excellence.
“Our focus is on delivering an unmatched consumer experience through a strong network of highly trained sales, service, and maintenance teams. This investment reflects our long-term vision—to drive excellence, nurture partnerships, and contribute to Africa’s evolving economic landscape,” he added.
Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Junichi Omori, General Manager, Global Operations Division, highlighted the company’s aggressive growth strategy for Africa.
“We are poised to accelerate our expansion across the continent. With rapid urbanization, infrastructure development, and rising housing demand, Africa is on track to become a multi-billion-dollar opportunity,” said Mr. Omori.
He revealed that Daikin will introduce Africa-specific products designed for local climates and consumer needs, while expanding its dealer network and investing in customer engagement.
“Our goal is to secure a leadership position and surpass competitors within the next 12 months—ultimately becoming the number one AC brand in Africa over the next three years,” he affirmed.
Industry experts note that Daikin’s entry comes at a time when Africa is making strong investments in housing, commercial projects, and sustainable infrastructure. With its reputation for eco-friendly and energy-efficient solutions, Daikin is well-positioned to ride this wave of growth.
The Nairobi office inauguration therefore represents more than geographic expansion. It embodies Daikin’s determination to align with Africa’s growth story while providing climate-smart comfort solutions to meet the continent’s future needs.
