The Nairobi Hospital and leading insurance providers have officially confirmed the full reinstatement of insurance coverage for patients, signaling a renewed era of trust and collaboration in Kenya’s healthcare sector. The announcement followed a successful stakeholder engagement breakfast meeting that brought together hospital executives and insurance company CEOs to strengthen relationships and discuss sustainable approaches to healthcare financing.

The decision comes after several weeks of structured discussions aimed at resolving earlier challenges that had affected coordination between the two sides. The reinstatement marks a major step toward rebuilding confidence among patients, ensuring uninterrupted access to medical services, and enhancing the overall healthcare experience.

In his remarks, The Nairobi Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Felix Osano, expressed appreciation to insurance partners for their constructive engagement and goodwill throughout the negotiation process. He described the outcome as a demonstration of shared accountability and mutual respect among key players in the healthcare industry.

“This favorable resolution is a testament to our collective commitment to guaranteeing continuous, high-quality healthcare for all our clients,” said Mr. Osano. “Our partnership with insurers is not merely transactional; it is built on a shared purpose of serving patients with integrity, compassion, and excellence. Through transparency and efficient operations, we aim to streamline the claims process and deliver an even better patient experience.”

Mr. Osano emphasized that collaboration between healthcare providers and insurers is vital to ensuring a sustainable and responsive health system, adding that The Nairobi Hospital will continue to work closely with stakeholders to create lasting value for patients.

Speaking on behalf of the Kenya Hospital Association (KHA) Board, Chairperson Dr. Barcley Onyambu hailed the outcome as an important milestone achieved through dialogue and goodwill. He reiterated the hospital’s commitment to good governance, accountability, and enduring partnerships.

“This positive resolution demonstrates what is possible when institutions choose dialogue over division and collaboration over confrontation,” Dr. Onyambu said. “It is crucial that we speak with one voice to assure patients that their coverage has been fully restored and that we remain united in our mission to deliver reliable, high-quality healthcare services.”

The stakeholder meeting highlighted the importance of consistency, open communication, and mutual understanding between hospitals and insurance firms. Participants agreed that fostering stronger partnerships would not only build trust but also improve efficiency in claims management, patient satisfaction, and the sustainability of healthcare financing in Kenya.

Stakeholders further resolved to maintain continuous engagement and strengthen coordination between medical and insurance teams. They also pledged to uphold the highest standards of service delivery while ensuring that patients the ultimate beneficiaries  continue to receive seamless and compassionate care.
