Nairobi is set to host an international women’s tennis tournament when the ITF World Tennis Tour Women’s W35 event takes place from December 28, 2025 to January 11, 2026 at Parklands Sports Club.

The two-week tournament will see players from around the world compete for Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) world ranking points and prize money. The winner of each event will earn 35 WTA points, while the runner-up will receive 23 points. Semi-finalists will collect 14 points, with quarter-finalists earning 8 points.

Players will also compete for prize money, with the singles champion set to receive USD 4,860. The runner-up will take home USD 2,637, while semi-finalists will earn USD 1,428 each and quarter-finalists USD 830.

The tournament follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Tennis Kenya and Parklands Sports Club earlier today, formally confirming their partnership for hosting the ITF W35 event. The agreement also marked Parklands Sports Club’s accreditation by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) as a venue approved to host ITF World Tennis Tour senior events.

The partnership underscores Kenya’s continued commitment to the growth of women’s professional tennis and the development of facilities that meet international standards.

The engagement held today also featured Kenya’s leading female player, Angella Okutoyi, who will compete in the ITF W35 as part of her Road to LA 2028 Olympic qualification journey. The Nairobi event will mark her first world-ranking tournament of 2025. Okutoyi took part in a short on-court hitting session for the media, after which journalists were guided around the courts to view recent facility upgrades at Parklands Sports Club.

On court, action will begin with the qualifying rounds on December 28 and 29, followed by the first round of the main draw on December 30 and 31. Doubles finals for the first week are scheduled for January 3, with the singles final set for January 4.

The same programme will be repeated in the second week, with the tournament concluding with the finals on January 11, 2026.

The ITF W35 Nairobi tournament is expected to raise Kenya’s profile on the international tennis stage while giving local and regional players an important opportunity to earn world ranking points at home.
